PS5 hardware and games booked in for sale on new PlayStation Store

PS5 hardware and games booked in for sale on new PlayStation Store

Get the PS5 piggy bank ready. Sony has announced a new storefront where you can buy everything PlayStation

PS5 Sony PlayStation 5
Sony is cutting out the middleman ahead of the PS5 launch next year with the announcement of a new addition to its online store that will see the console manufacturer sell its hardware, games, and more, directly to customers.
The new storefront will see products ranging from consoles and bundles - currently limited to the PS4 and PS4 Pro- the PS VR system and accessories, headsets, DualShock 4 Wireless Controllers, voucher codes for PS Plus subscriptions, and physical games, although this will be a limited selection with a view to expanding the available titles over time.
It's a smart move for Sony as we get closer to the next gen launch, and by selling its hardware and physical games directly to consumers, they can no doubt afford to offer more generous deals and discounts than that of its competitors, making it the most appealing place to spend your money.
Right now, for example, to mark the store going live, there are a couple of limited time promotional bundle deals running until October 31 for a PS4 and a PS4 Pro, both with a 12-month PS Plus subscription for $339.99 and $429.99 respectively. As an added bonus, PlayStation Plus members who are signed in to shop are eligible for free one-day express shipping.

As for the PS5 launch, if the store is thriving next year, we could possibly see Sony limit availability of the PS5 elsewhere, or offer the chance for gamers to pick one up earlier than competing outlets - both methods of directing business away from high street and online retailers, and directly to PlayStation.
The website went live this week in the US, and while Sony hasn't addressed if and when we might see the same for other regions, it would be missing a trick if it didn't roll out in other major markets.

Apple iOS 13.1.1 Now Live: Surprise Update With Vital Improvements

When iOS 13 launched on September 19, 2019, it wasn’t the luckiest of debuts for Apple. There were bugs and insecurities, due to be patched in an update on September 30. But Apple worked super-fast to bring that update, iOS 13.1, forward to September 24.
Perhaps too fast, because as soon as it went live, there were reports of a security flaw concerning third-party keyboards, giving them full access to the iPhones and iPads using iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1.

In the last few hours, Apple has rushed out a new update. The numbering reveals that this is very much an incremental update rather than a big one – the next one of those will be iOS 13.2.
Here’s what’s new and how to get it.

How to get it
It’s now available to download on compatible iPhones, with iPadOS 13.1 for suitable iPads. Go to the Settings app on the device and then choose General, then Software Update.
Click on Download and Install and it’ll do the heavy lifting.

What’s in the update?
As you can see if you check the size of the download before you install, this is a small update.
Top of the list is a fix for the third-party keyboard flaw which allowed access even when the user hadn’t given permission.
There’s also been a problem with battery drain. Some users have experienced battery drain that was faster than it should have been. This is important because extra battery life was one of the wins iOS 13 was meant to bring, so for it to go the other way is not so good.
Other fixes include resolving an issue that could prevent the iPhone from restoring from a back-up.
Siri recognition on the 2019 iPhones is also improved.
Syncing in Reminders has been slow for some users – this has now been fixed.
There are still issues to be sorted, but assuming there are no more sudden crises, we can expect the next update to be iOS 13.2.

Here’s the full Apple changelog which, as you can see, is not extensive but certainly important.
iOS 13.1.1 includes bug fixes and improvements for your iPhone. This update:
– Fixes issues that could prevent iPhone restoring from backup
– Addresses an issue that could cause battery to drain more quickly
– Fixes an issue that could impact recognition of Siri requests on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max
– Resolves a problem where Safari search suggestions may re-enable after turning them off

– Addresses an issue that could cause Reminders to sync slowly
– Fixes a security issue for third-party keyboard apps

The previous iOS 13 updates
iOS 13.1
This came out on September 24, 2019 and sought to fix issues and squish bugs such as problems opening the camera properly, improperly behaving wallpapers, text entry issues and so on. There was also a fix to a battery management problem. New features included activating the U1 chip in the latest iPhones which gives the handsets a form of spatial awareness, improving AirDrop immediately and with other benefits set to follow. The Shortcuts app also saw extra support and more features. The facility to send your ETA to others from Maps was added.

iOS 13
Released on September 19, 2019, this was a very big release with an awful lot in it.  For full details, read the indepth analysis here

FORBES David Phelan
Features include:
Dark mode to make the iPhone’s interface less glaring in a low-light environment, for instance. App developers can integrate Dark Mode into their apps so that the iPhone has a consistent look. Sign in with Apple lets you sign up to apps with your Apple ID and Apple will keep the site or app at arm’s length. You can sign in using Face ID or Touch ID as appropriate. Maps has been updated with a new street-level look and in-depth mapping on selected cities.
Photos and Camera apps have been seriously altered with a new look to the Photos tab and significant editing upgrades. Siri sounds more natural and will offer personalized recommendations. Remindershas been completely overhauled, and Notes has a new gallery view. Find My combines Find My iPhone and Find My Friends. It will help to locate offline devices, too.

QuickPath is the new way to enter text by swiping. It’s very cool.
Text editing has been improved, though the elegant magnifying glass which used to appear when you touched a word, making it visible even though the word itself was hidden under your thumb, say, has gone. I hope it’s coming back soon.
Among the miscellaneous treats are a pro-active system that tells you which apps have been accessing your location, for example. A message says how often it has done so in a set period of time and you can leave things as they are or adjust. It’s a very simple but highly reassuring detail.

Download the Google Pixel 4 Live Wallpapers for any Android device

Download the Google Pixel 4 Live Wallpapers for any Android device

This week, a site called Nextrift got their hands on a pre-release version of the Pixel 4 XL, likely from the same shop that was pawning off units to multiple Vietnamese YouTubers. There’s not much we can say about their hands-on posts since the two 2019 Pixel phones have leaked so much already. What’s notable about this leak, though, is that they were willing to share many more files from the device than just the new Google Camera app. In fact, they sent the new Google Recorder appPixel Launcher appPixel Themes, and Pixel Live Wallpapers app to 9to5Google. The part that I’m sure most of you were looking forward to the most—the new Pixel 4 live wallpapers—sadly don’t work by sideloading the new APK. However, that hasn’t stopped one developer on our forums.
You may recognize Pranav Pandey, an XDA Recognized Developer who ported the live wallpapers from the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3. As soon as the new Pixel Live Wallpapers leaked from the Pixel 4 XL, he started to look into porting them for all of us to enjoy. While the original APK targets Android 10, the developer says his modified version should work on any 64-bit Android device running Android 7.0 Nougat or later. Here are screenshots showing off some previews of the new Pixel 4 Live Wallpapers:
Screenshots courtesy of Pranav Pandey.
The “Doodle” wallpaper is one you’ve likely seen before if you’ve been following the flood of Pixel 4 leaks, and according to its description, you can play around with the objects on screen like you can with the new Android 10 Easter egg. The “Compass” live wallpaper shown above asks you to pick a location (presumably on a Map), which then results in the compass pointing towards that location. Lastly, the “Living Universe” set of live wallpapers has been expanded to show new locations in Saudia Arabia, Australia, and Switzerland.
The live wallpapers that are currently available in the APK.
What’s interesting about a lot of these live wallpapers is that they support the system-wide dark mode toggle in Android 10, but of course, there’s no dark mode toggle if you aren’t on Android 10 or Android 9-based One UI. To get the Pixel 4 live wallpaper port working on older Android versions, Pandey said he had to disable the WallpaperColors API that’s responsible for this behavior. That means the live wallpapers in the modified APK won’t react to changes in the system theme, but Pandey said he’ll try to make a separate version with this behavior intact for supported Android versions. Furthermore, the unique features for some of the wallpapers, like setting the planet for “Sights from the sun” or the color for “Doodle,” require integration with the Pixel Themes app and hence haven’t been fully ported. Lastly, the live wallpapers that were unlocked may not reflect the entire set of live wallpapers on retail units, though we’re getting close to the launch date so we won’t have to wait long to find out.
If you’re interested in trying out the new live wallpapers from the Google Pixel 4 on your own device, you can download the modified APK from the link below. The original, unaltered Pixel Live Wallpaper APK is available on APKMirror, but again, they won’t work on Pixel or non-Pixel devices even if you sideload them. For further updates to this port straight from the developer, we recommend you follow Pandey’s forum thread.
If you have a rooted device running Android 10 (only tested on Pixel), then you can get the above and the Pixel Themes app and the live wallpapers customization as shown here by downloading one of the below MagiskModules. Thanks to XDA Senior Member paphonb for the tip on how to get it fully working.
Check out some of Pranav Pandey’s work like “Rotation – Orientation Manager” and “Everyday – Calendar Widget” if you want to support the developer.

Call of Duty Mobile launches soon: A complete guide to new PUBG Mobile rival

Call of Duty: Mobile will be available for Android and iOS smartphones on October 1. Here’s everything you need to know about the mobile game.

We’re just a few days away from the launch of Call of Duty: Mobile. Scheduled to roll out on October 1 for Android and iOS users, Call of Duty: Mobile is one of the most anticipated mobile games of the year. The new iteration of Call of Duty is also going to compete with PUBG Mobile with its own version of battle royale where up to 100 players can enter a fight. Here’s a complete guide to the latest PUBG Mobile alternative.
How to download, device compatibility
Call of Duty: Mobile will be available for your smartphone on October 1. To be among the first ones to download the game, you can pre-register for the game on the company’s official website. The game will be available via Google and Apple app stores.
Call of Duty: Mobile will need your phone to have at least 2GB of RAM and run on Android 5.1 and above. This will roughly cover all the mid-range and even some budget smartphones in India. PUBG Mobile has a similar device requirements though there’s also a PUBG Mobile Lite version.

For iPhone and iPad users, Call of Duty: Mobile requires your device to run on iOS 9.0 and above. The game is not compatible with older generation iPhones such as Phone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3 and iPod Touch.
PUBG Mobile-like battle royale
COD Mobile’s battle royale will support up to 100 players in a fight. Users can play in either solo, duo or even form a quad-player team. To be the last man standing, you need to leverage in-game items such as tactical raft, helicopter or ATVs across different geographies. The game also gives you the option to switch between first person perspective to third-person.

Multiplayer Combat
One of the biggest features of Call of Duty: Mobile is going to be the multiplayer combat. Here, you can choose to customise loadouts with primary or secondary weapons. You will also have the option to select the type of soldier and get more equipment for powerful gameplay. As the game progresses and you win more in-game rewards, you can collect iconic Call of Duty characters like John “Soap” MacTavish and Simon “Ghost” Riley from the Modern Warfare series. Black Ops series’ Alex Mason will also be up for unlocking. During the game, you’ll play in different maps including the familiar Hijacked and Nuketown. Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Search & Destroy are some of the popular COD experiences that will be part of the game.

One of DC's Most Popular Couples Just Split

One of DC's Most Popular Couples Just Split

When you think DC Comics a few couples stand out. Superman and Lois Lane, Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor, and Batman and Catwoman are just a few that come to mind, and while each of those couples have gone through their hills and valleys to be sure, one couple really had a rough go of it this past week, and it seems their time together has come to an end. While we hope this isn't forever, it does look like it will be the status quo for a bit, and if you're okay with spoilers read on to find out what happened.
If you've been keeping up with Wonder Woman lately you know that thanks to Lex Luthor's recent giving spree, he gave Cheetah a powerful sword that can kill even Gods. That's exactly what she did a few issues ago when she tried to get Aphrodite to let her through a portal through Themyscira, and with the living embodiment of love dead, the emotion of love has also faded from existence.
That's taken quite a toll on the world, causing riots and revolts all over, but it also affects people and their interactions with their loved ones. That is also the case with Diana and Steve Trevor, who have been struggling after love has faded away. Wonder Woman encounters Cheetah yet again in this issue, and while she fends her off she is exhausted afterward.

She wakes up back and to Trevor, who took her home after being called by Veronica Cale. She thanks him and says "what would I do without you my..." but before she can finish Trevor says "love? sounds strange to say it now."
Trevor then says that there's more to their relationship than just love, including history, duty, and more, and says that plenty of marriages are built on less. Diana asks what he means but then she sees his bags packed by the door. Trevor then says that there were problems before Aphrodite (ones she would've noticed if she were around more), but with her gone, the last thing bonding them together is also gone.

He picks up his bags and says "I'll always care about you, but I can't keep putting so much of myself into this and getting so little."
With that he leaves, and Wonder Woman is left picking up the pieces.

Wonder Woman #79 is written by G. Willow Wilson and drawn by Scot Eaton, and you can check out the official description below.
